The Italian Training Network for Peacekeeping and Emergencies (NIFOPE) is a network for an horizontal coordination among centres and institutions involved in the training of personnel for civilian crisis missions. The founding stone towards the creation of such a mechanism was positioned in Pisa on 17 March 2010 at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna within the frame work of the brainstorming meeting on “Training of civilian personnel of peace support missions: towards the creation of a network of Italian training centres”. The event, co-organised by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI), saw the participation of national actors relevant and active in the training of civilian and police personnel seconded and deployed in peace support operations.
